Endurance
Our first endurance ride. After weeks of training the day finally came. We both hacked over to the venue in walk at 8.30am (from one farm to another), Got there at 9am. After half an hour of Gabby neighing and fidgeting she settled down ready for the farrier and vet. We got the go ahead and tacked up.
At 10.10am we were off for our 23km's. Donna went crewing to check point six where she offered us some water and sponged Gabby down. The weather was very hot which was one of the harder factors of the day.
When we arrived at the check point, Gabby only had one thing on her mind, got to keep going, got to keep going. So it was a sponge on the move and a very quick drink for me.
We arrived back at the venue at 12.30 at an average speed of 9.7km per hour. Buckets of water were sponged all over Gabby to cool her down and wash away the sweat. She was more interested in looking around and eating grass.
20 minuets passed and it was time to face the vet for our final check. And of course Gabby passed with flying colours. The vet said she looks like could she do it all again. Our first rosette!
As for me, well look at the photos, I look shattered, and Gabby looks like she just came out of the stable.
