Now what an odd day this was. We were up bright and early. Weather was nice. Turned out miracle with loads of hay and prepared Gabby for travel. This was supposed to be a nice training ride that we were going to do twice in preparation for next weeks ride.
So we loaded up and got gabby onboard. And we were off. So far so good.
As we got closer to Ashdown Forest the weather slightly changed and within minutes we were in a blizzard. We were to far gone to just turn back so we continues and found the venue. A rather white venue I might add. We got one of the few places under a barn. We were the lucky ones. Unloaded Gabby to give her a stretch. Went to see a rather concerned Ride Secretary to find out what was happening. 20 minutes later the event was cancelled. Some people decided to go for a ride whilst they were there but I had the feeling that everything happens for a reason so if it was cancelled for safety reasons then I should take notice.
We loaded back up and took the journey home rather slowly, having to use the low 4x4 gears on occasions as the small roads of Ashdown Forest were very slippery!
We came home, brought Miracle in and gave them both an afternoon of hay in their boxes. The snow cleared up rather quickly and they were both soon back out.
